The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recently reported that more than 20 percent of Americans smoke. On average, smokers spend $1,600 a year for cigarettes.

Smoking costs individuals more than out-of-pocket cash for cigarettes. Duke University health economists determined that if the average 24-year-old smoker uses cigarettes for 60 years, the projected cost for a man would be $220,000 and $106,000 for a woman, in terms of expenses for taxes, car and house insurance, healthcare premiums and lost earnings due to disability. Save money with paid sick leave, preventive dental and vision care

headacheIt’s a common dilemma: You get sick while at work, or a child or family member calls because they are ill and need to see the doctor – what are your choices?

Some workers have the flexibility of paid sick leave to handle health issues. But for approximately 44 million American workers without this benefit, they have to wait until after work hours to visit a hospital emergency room (ER) or an urgent care facility to deal with the concern.
